Procedural Writing - Review and Assignment

Hello,

Today, we are going to start our procedural writing assignment.

We use procedural texts to help explain how to do something, get somewhere, or explain the rules to something.  Examples of procedural texts are found in: recipes, game instructions, recording a scientific experiment, directions to locations, etc. Instructions in procedural texts are often short, simple and to the point.  Procedural texts are written in the present tense (now).

Parts of a Procedural Text

Title – What is the goal or outcome of the activity?
Materials or Ingredients – What do you need to complete the activity?
Series of Steps – In chronological order, list what needs to happen for you to reach your goal or optimum outcome.
Conclusion – You may want to offer advice or tips to make the task easier.  Things that you may have learned along the way.

Your Task

Think about a task you would like to teach others and create a procedure so others can follow along and learn that task as well. Please ensure that the task is age appropriate and safe. Once you have an idea, please complete the Google form below.
